The 6th National Conference on Wind Engineering, jointly organized by the Indian Society for Wind Engineering (ISWE) and CSIR-Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee, was held at the CSIR-Central Road Research Institute, New Delhi on December 14-15, 2012. The conference provided a platform for experts and professionals from various sectors to discuss advancements in wind engineering and its impact on infrastructure. Inaugural Session: The conference was inaugurated on December 14, 2012, by Prof. Yukio Tamura, President of the International Association for Wind Engineering (IAWE) and Professor at Tokyo Polytechnic University, Japan, who served as the Chief Guest. The event was also graced by Prof. Prem Krishna, Former President of IAWE and Chairman of the Research Committee at CBRI, Roorkee, and Dr. S. Gangopadhyay, Director of CSIR-Central Road Research Institute, New Delhi, as Guests of Honor. The inaugural session was presided over by Prof. S. K. Bhattacharyya, Director of CSIR-Central Building Research Institute, Roorkee. The event also featured an inaugural lecture by Prof. Yukio Tamura on "Extreme Winds", and the proceedings of the conference were officially released. Conference Highlights: More than 70 delegates from various government and private organizations, including CSIR-CBRI, CSIR-SERC, CSIR-CRRI, DST, Ministry of Earth Science, Jaypee Associates Ltd., RWDI Consulting Engineers, and Mahagun India Pvt. Ltd., attended the conference. Prominent faculty members from institutes like IIT Roorkee, SVNIT Surat, Thapar Institute, Patiala, and research scholars actively participated in the discussions. Keynote lectures were delivered by renowned experts on the following topics: Extreme Winds Wind Tunnel Studies on Tall Buildings Health Monitoring of Structures Impact of Wind Storms on Urban Centers Wind Loading on Chimneys Wind Design Considerations for Bridges Annual General Meeting (AGM): On December 15, 2012, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of ISWE, India, was held, chaired by Prof. P. D. Porey, President of ISWE. The valedictory function of the conference followed, with Prof. Kishor C. Mehta from Texas Tech University, USA, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Nagesh R. Iyer, Director of CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre, Chennai, as the Guest of Honor. The session was presided over by Prof. P. D. Porey, President of ISWE, India. Acknowledgments: The event was made possible through the dedicated efforts of officials from CSIR-CBRI, Roorkee, including Dr. L. P. Singh, Dr. S. R. Karade, Dr. A. K. Minocha, Dr. P. K. Yadav, Sri. I. A. Siddiqui, Sri. Rajeev Sharma, Sri. Sidharth Behera, Ms. Chhavi Sharma, and Ms. Geetika Mishra.
